Letters: Revamp Lymington Town Quay? Fix our parking problems first

SIR - You are to be congratulated for shining a light on something of great importance to all residents of the town with your article last week about plans to revamp Lymington Quay.

However, it is vital that the awful parking problem in the town is addressed and resolved.

The loss of that car park will result in additional parking all round South Grove and neighbouring residential areas.

We need to look at the problem on a larger scale. A park and ride scheme should be considered. Surely it’s not beyond the wit of our planners to find a means to accommodate our visitors.

The problem is not helped by the dreadful lack of management at our delightful railway station where passengers for the train service are denied car parking spaces as a result of the bus company using the area as a terminus having sold off the bus station.

Passengers alighting from the train struggle up to the town with their luggage because there is no bus stop for them at the station.

Sadly, the possibility of achieving any worthwhile major improvements will be unlikely without firstly making parking and transport within the town the priority.
