Letters: Sort out Quay Hill crossing before an accident happens

SIR – I would like to comment on your article in the edition of 25th July about calls for a crossing at the bottom of Quay Hill in Lymington.

When I walked down to the bottom of the town and crossed this dangerous stretch of the road onto the cobbles at the weekend, pedestrians were ducking and diving in front of traffic, a near-miss with a pushchair took place, and campaigners were on the cobbles doing a survey.

Cllr Jacqui England warned in your article there was an accident waiting to happen, she was correct as one has already occurred.

How many more will it take before Lymington and Pennington Town Council, New Forest District Council and Hampshire County Council have a meeting together and sort this serious problem out before more accidents or a fatality happens?

This is an urgent priority before even thinking about alterations to the quay which are unnecessary.

Can I remind readers that the HCC Lymington and Pennington councillor is Michael White, and the town and district councillor is Jacqui England. If any person has concerns please contact them as well as sending letters to the A&T.

Jacqui Head, Lymington
