Letters: Van company responds to parking complaints

SIR – In response to a letter that appeared in last week’s paper regarding the parking of vehicles in Barton and surrounding areas, I would like to firstly say that not all the vehicles people are complaining about belong to our car hire or used car site.

We are not the only business here so vehicles using/working at other businesses are also parked around the local area.

We are working hard as a company to provide a friendly professional service to all our customers.

If there is a problem our door is always open for people to come in and politely without being aggressive/abusive firstly ascertain if the vehicle in question is ours and if it is for us to arrange for it to be moved.

When parking our private vehicles here, we do avoid causing an obstruction.

We as a company seem to be in the firing line and staff are dealing with very abusive people shouting at them outside and on the phone, which is not acceptable.

We work closely with the community supporting local charities such as Oakhaven Hospice. We have also helped local residents on several occasions when stranded due to broken down cars/mobility scooters, and accidents.

I have also noted that since parking restrictions came into force, there are no cars here and still we are getting complaints.

We are not affecting any local businesses trade, as they, like us, have deliveries and their own vehicles taking up the road and parking spaces.
