Lifetime achievement honour for Lymington CC's Tony at county awards

LYMINGTON CC treasurer Tony Wharton has been presented with a Lifetime Achievement award at the NatWest Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards (OSCAs) at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

Tony has spent 30 years tirelessly working to improve local cricket at his former clubs Langley Manor, New Milton and current club Lymington.

He received 41% of the votes to attain the award ahead of Ray Holyer from the Hampshire Association of Cricket Officials and Chris Westbrook from Hursley Park Cricket Club.

Over and above his work at Lymington, where he is the first-team manager and scorer, Tony has been treasurer of the Southern League.

He is currently president and former chairman of South Hampshire Indoor Cricket League, and is vice-chairman of the New Forest Junior Cricket Association.

Tony told the A&T: “I felt very honoured, humbled and emotional when I realised I was the winner as runner-up Chris Westbrook and Ray Holyer have also done a lot for their club and local cricket.”
