Flytippers dump toys at Beaulieu aerodrome and Darkwater car park in the New Forest
FLYTIPPERS have struck again at New Forest beauty spots, dumping children’s toys at Beaulieu’s aerodrome.
A Forestry England spokesperson said similar items were also dumped at Darkwater car park over the weekend.
The dumped waste at the aerodrome reportedly also included prescription drugs.
The Forestry England spokesperson said: “A number of flytips occurred on the New Forest over the weekend.
“On Saturday our rangers attended a flytip at Beaulieu aerodrome, which included a range of household items and toys.
“The following day our rangers attended a flytip at Darkwater car park including similar items.
“Evidence has been collected from both and we are working closely with the appropriate enforcement authorities to investigate these incidents.”
The spokesperson added: “Both tips were removed by our waste contractors. The cost of this has to be met by our limited funds and reduces our ability to look after the New Forest, facilities for people using it, and to care for wildlife.
“We would like to take this opportunity to once again remind anyone who is having waste removed to ensure the company or individual they are using has the correct licence to do so.
“This can be easily checked on the Environment Agency website. Working with licensed companies taking a responsible and sustainable approach will help to reduce incidents.”
Joanne Coulter of Beaulieu-based Photography New Forest said she came across the flytipped waste at the aerodrome while she was out dog-walking with her partner.
She said: “Apparently there was a large amount of prescription drugs there that someone took away and handed in before I got there [and] before the ponies got to them.
“I don’t think those flytipped items had been there very long because they were still dry. It looked like someone cleared a kid’s bedroom. There were some really nice remote control cars among the dumped waste.”
