LYMINGTON Town scored two goals inside the opening 10 minutes to beat Brockenhurst and extend their flawless start to the league campaign last night (Wednesday) at The Sports Ground.

The win put the home side in joint-second with Horndean, with Fareham Town three points above them. However, Lymington have two games in hand over both sides.

Lymington midfielder Nathan Hurst scored the opener when he headed in from close range to give his side a third-minute lead before Sam House doubled the advantage seven minutes later. Lymington dominated the first half and could have extended their lead multiple times.

The opener came from a corner when Luke Churchill’s inch-perfect near-post delivery was turned in by Hurst whose bullet header left Brockenhurst keeper Jon Webb with no chance.

With the visitors still reeling, on-fire striker Sam House, fresh from his four-goal masterclass at the weekend against Bournemouth Poppies, doubled the advantage after finishing from close range.

The rest of the half progressed in a similar vein as the first 10 minutes, the only difference being the lack of goals. Brock keeper Webb repeatedly repelled goal-bound efforts as the last line of defence.

The visitors never let their heads drop, and they came out a different side in the second-half. However, Lymington’s Ross Casey made more than one highly impressive save to maintain a defensive record that has seen Dave Lewis’ men shut out their opponents in four of their five league matches.

Lymington and Brockenhurst are both in FA Vase action against fellow Sydenhams Wessex Premier sides on Saturday: Lymington host Hamble Club while Brock welcome AFC Stoneham.
