Southern Premier League: Bournemouth 135 v Lymington 139-4 (Lymington CC win by six wickets)

Lymington CC maintained their pressure on Bashley at the top of the Southern Premier League with victory over Bournemouth at the Lymington Sports ground.

Captain Matt Metcalfe took five wickets as Bournemouth stuttered to 135 all out in the first innings. Batsman Ryan Scott guided Lymington to a comprehensive six-wicket victory with a 98-ball 69.

Lymington won the toss and elected to field in overcast conditions. Metcalfe, Josh Proctor and Guy Layman picked up early wickets to restrict Bournemouth to 37-4.

Simon Woodruff (39) and Edward Denham (31) restored the visitors' innings with a 49-run partnership before Woodruff was caught behind off Proctor.

From this point on, Bournemouth's lower order struggled. They limped to 135 all out after losing four wickets for two runs late on. Metcalfe finished with 5-37 while his opening partner Proctor claimed 3-43.

In reply, Lymington slipped out of the gate as opening batsmen Terry Crabb and Ben Rogers fell to Tigers' bowler Dan Conway.

However, Ryan Scott and Dominic Hand batted patiently and managed to push the score to 89 when Hand nicked one behind off Tom Robinson's bowling. Scott pressed on and attained his half-century to put Lymington in the driving seat.

Luke Webb caught Scott off Edward Denham's bowling for 69 which included 11 fours with Lymington 23 runs short of their target. Daniel Cox and wicketkeeper Gareth Schreuder knocked off the required runs to give the hosts a six-wicket win.

Lymington will travel to South Wilts on Saturday and will look to extend their three-game winning streak.
