Lymington man arrested over fire at Waterstones on High Street




A MAN from Lymington has been arrested in connection with a fire on a book store in the town.

As reported in the A&T, Waterstones on High Street was targeted at around 10.30pm on Wednesday.

Thanks to the efforts of quick-thinking staff at nearby bar Huddle – who rushed to the store with fire extinguishers – the flames were contained until the emergency services arrived.

A spokesperson for Hampshire police confirmed to the A&T a 23-year-old man from the town has been arrested on suspicion of arson.

The spokesperson added: “He remains in police custody at this time [and] our enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fire remain ongoing.”
