Motorist (60) arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after 77-year-old Lymington woman dies in collision on Milford Road




A PENSIONER from Lymington has died following a collision in the town earlier today (Tuesday), police have confirmed.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which took place on Milford Road just before 2pm.

Emergency services attended, but despite their best efforts, a 77-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been informed and will be supported by officers, say the force.

As part of the investigation a 60 year-old woman from Lymington was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: “We were called at 1:54pm to a report of a collision involving a blue Vauxhall Meriva and a pedestrian on Milford Road.

“We have been at the location and a section of Milford Road remains closed while we carry out enquiries.”

They added: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have been passing through the area around 1:50pm this afternoon and saw what happened or the moments leading up to it.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has dashcam footage which could help us with our investigation.”
