Lymington Town make second-half comeback against Cowes
Sydenhams Premier: Lymington Town FC 3-2 Cowes Sports
LYMINGTON Town FC came from 2-1 down at half-time to beat Cowes Sports at home in the Sydenhams Premier.
With two minutes gone, Town were in front when Rian Drake got the final touch. Ten minutes later, the visitors drew level through Jamie Wykes, shortly before Cowes went ahead, with Jared Wetherick the scorer.
Town almost equalised as the visitors’ keeper somehow kept out a reflex header from his centre-back. Town’s Ali Zintany was sent to the sin-bin just before the interval.
Town brought on Harry Yates and Nathan Hurst early after the break with Zintany also rejoining the side. Town started to get into the game, and for Zintany who went from sin-bin to goal-scorer in a matter of minutes.
Town started throwing everything they had at a tiring visiting defence which eventually conceded the vital goal, with Luke Churchill converting directly from a corner.
Lymington Town boss Dave Lewis told the A&T: “After starting well and going in front on five minutes, it was very disappointing to concede two self-inflicted goals.
“A few harsh realities were vented at half-time by both the management and players which galvanised the group. The second half was much improved, and I take my hat off to the lads for a very dominant second-half performance which sealed the points.
“Cowes were very difficult opponents, and their 16-year-old goalkeeper was outstanding from start to finish.”
The result moves Town into sixth in the league. They travel to Baffins Milton Rovers on Saturday.
