Lymington's colourful carnival to take over high street on Sunday

LYMINGTON carnival is set to fill the street of the town on Sunday 21st July with the topical theme of ‘saving the planet’.

Run by the Lions Club of Lymington and Brockenhurst, the procession will see superhero participants aiming to raise awareness of the environment.

Entrants have been encouraged to promote recycling and green renewable energy or dress up as solar panels, windmills and turbines, electric cars or endangered wildlife.

The Dolphin Marching Band will be joining the Bournemouth Carnival Band and the Hampshire Caledonian Pipe Band for the parade, that will also feature previous ‘recycled’ carnival queens, young and old.

The procession will leave from Avenue Road at 11am, following a route that will pass through Southampton Road, Queen Street, St Thomas Street, High Street, Gosport Street, Cannon Street, North Close, and East Hill before heading back to Avenue Road.

Judging for entrants will take place at 10.15am in the town hall car park.
