A MAN has come forward to police following a CCTV appeal in relation to a report a woman was sexually assaulted in the centre of Christchurch.

Officers had released an image of a man they wanted to trace after a 19-year-old woman was said to have been attacked in an alleyway off High Street around 2am on Sunday 15th March.

As reported in the A&T, the victim was approached by a man near the Regent Centre after she left Soho bar where she had spent the evening with family.

They walked down the cut-way together, where the suspect was said to have grabbed her hand and forced her to touch him sexually. She tried to pull away but he made a second attempt while she was against a wall. He eventually walked away.

The victim was left with minor bruising and grazes.

Police have now reported that a man has since come forward and is helping officers with their investigation. No arrests have been made.
