Man dies after emergency at Mudeford Spit

A MAN has died after emergency crews responded to a medical incident at Mudeford Spit last night (Tuesday).

The alarm was raised around 9.45pm, with paramedics later calling Southbourne Coastguard for help accessing the site near Hengistbury Head.

Despite the rescuers’ efforts, the casualty, who was in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers from Dorset Police also attended.

A force spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.34pm on Tuesday 4th August 2020 by the ambulance service to reports of a medical emergency at Hengistbury Head in Christchurch.

“Very sadly a man aged in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene. As this is a medical matter we have no further information to give.”
