A MAN has appeared in court accused of trying to kill his parents and elderly grandmother at their New Forest home.

Jonathan Keal (34) did not enter a plea to three attempted murder allegations, which relate to Robert and Lynda Keal and Marjorie Blacker, at the property in the village of Sandleheath near Fordinbridge.

The offences are alleged to have been committed just after midnight on 27th September 2018 but details of the case only emerged last week when it went to court.

A Hampshire Police spokesman said: “Three people, a man and a woman in their 60s, and a woman in her 90s, sustained serious injuries and required hospital treatment.

“Officers attending the scene arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with this incident.”

South Central Ambulance Service confirmed it attended the scene and three people had to be rushed to hospital.

Mayfield Road is a gravel track with large properties dotted along one side.

A neighbour of the Keals told the A&T: “They are really, really lovely people.

“They are what you would describe as pillars of the community in this little place, you couldn’t meet anyone who was nicer.”

The defendant, who lives at Old Market Street, Bristol, was remanded in custody by a judge at Winchester Crown Court until 22nd May
