Tuckton man Geoffrey Burt found guilty of assaulting woman and damaging door in Marchwood
ATTACKING a woman and damaging a door at her home landed a Tuckton man with a suspended prison sentence and a bill of over £1,000.
Geoffrey Burt (43), of Riverside Lane, had previously pleaded not guilty to assaulting the victim by beating and breaking a door window valued at £320 at an address in Marchwood on 23rd June 2021.
But he was convicted at Southampton Magistrates’ Court where he was handed a 12-week jail term suspended for 18 months.
The district judge also imposed a three-year restraining order, banning Burt from contacting the victim or visiting locations including the location of the offences.
He was ordered to fully compensate the victim for the damage, as well as pay £748 in court charges.
Burt must also undergo rehabilitation activity and attend a Building Better Relationships programme.
