Assaults and homophobic abuse see Totton man Mitchell Dean banned from Medbar Hythe for a year
DRUNKENLY assaulting two men and hurling homophobic abuse resulted in a Totton man being banned from a Hythe bar for a year.
Southampton Magistrates’ Court heard Mitchell Dean committed the offences after drinking into the early hours of Sunday 6th November at Medbar Hythe, in The Marsh.
The 32-year-old, of Harrold Close, became verbally and physically abusive towards staff members and they detained him while police were called.
Dean was said to have continued aiming homophobic abusive towards them.
Having been arrested, a search by police revealed cannabis on him.
Dean pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating, one of using threatening or abusive words of behaviour – which was ruled to be homophobic in nature – and one of possessing a class B drug.
The Bench was told the defendant was already serving a community behaviour order for racially abusing and exposing his genitals to a police officer in July 2021.
Dean was issued with a renewed community behaviour order, requiring he undergo rehabilitation activity and complete 200 hours of unpaid community work.
A 12-month exclusion order bars him from entering Medbar Hythe, and destruction order was made for the seized cannabis.
He must also pay £50 compensation to both assault victims, as well as £199 in court charges.
A further charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards one of the assault victims was withdrawn.
