Long Vo jailed for 12 months after police seized about 200 cannabis plants from Blackfield address
A MAN has been jailed for a year after police seized about 200 cannabis plants being grown at a Blackfield property.
Long Vo (21), of no fixed abode in Southampton, was sent down at the city’s crown court having pleaded guilty to producing the drug.
As reported in the A&T, a raid was carried out at an address on New Road on Monday 25th November last year.
Officers were from the Waterside Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), the Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET) and New Forest Priority Crime Team (PCT).
During a previous court hearing, Vo pleaded guilty to abstracting/using without authority electricity and producing cannabis.
As well as the prison term, he was ordered to pay a £187 surcharge to help fund victim support services.
Welcoming the sentencing, PC Goulds, of Waterside Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Criminal actions have consequences, as has again been demonstrated here.
“Vo will now have time to consider and hopefully learn from his actions, safe in the knowledge that we will bring him before the courts again if he continues to break the law.
“This case should also serve as a stark reminder to others out there who think they can get away with drug-related activity and criminality. You can’t, and we will work tirelessly to catch up with and prosecute anyone who thinks they can.”
Those with information about drug-related activity in their neighbourhood are urged to continue reporting it online via hampshire.police.uk or by calling 101.
PC Goulds added: “The more information we receive, the more action we can take against offenders, ensuring our communities remain safe for everyone.”
