Met Office issues yellow weather warning for ice on highways overnight




ICY patches on the roads could make traveling more dangerous this evening and overnight, it has been warned.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice covering the New Forest.

Weather experts warn that icy patches are likely to form on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths overnight, increasing the risk of injuries from slips and falls.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Rain, sleet and snow will continue to clear southwards across England and Wales with clearing skies to follow.

“Temperatures are expected to fall below or close to freezing quite widely across the warning area with icy patches forming on untreated freezing surfaces.”

People are advised to wrap up warm and to set out for journeys earlier than usual to avoid rushing on icy highways.
