Micro-pub serving alcohol until midnight planned for Totton
A NEW micro-pub serving alcohol until midnight could open in Totton if New Forest District Council approves its licensing application.
Called 6 Barrels, it would sell craft ales, lager, cider, wine, spirits, hot and soft drinks and bar snacks from the former Noo-Thai restaurant premises in Salisbury Road. There will be seating for around 40 people in addition to an outside area at the front of the building.
Applicant K&S Trading Limited has asked the district council to allow live and recorded music, performances of dance and the supply of alcohol from noon until midnight every day. The application also states none of these activities would take place outside after 10pm.
The installation of CCTV, an age verification policy and staff training will also be implemented if given the go-ahead, the application adds.
The town council has objected to the application, stating the business should be given standard licensing hours, until 11pm on weekdays and Sundays.
The application has also received one written objection from a nearby resident who said: “The serving of alcohol until midnight in a residential area is bound to cause some disorder in some people – it is well known that alcohol can predispose to disorderly conduct.”
Before it closed down in August, Noo-Thai restaurant had a licence for live and recorded music and the sale of alcohol between midday and 11.30pm.
Members of NFDC's licensing committee are expected to make a decision on 25th October.
