Mobility scooter rider falls on tracks at Totton, causing disruption for South Western Railway train commuters




A MOBILITY scooter rider fell on the railway line at Totton causing rush-hour disruption for commuters.

British Transport Police discovered the accident when they responded to call-out reporting a trespasser on the tracks shortly after 3.30pm yesterday (Tuesday).

All lines in the area were blocked as officers and paramedics worked to safely recover the casualty, who refused medical treatment.

The lines were reopened shortly after 4pm but disruption continued until around 5.45pm.

A BTP spokesperson said: “We were called to Totton station shortly after 3.30pm following reports of a trespasser on the tracks.

“Officers attended along with the local ambulance service and found that a person on a mobility scooter had fallen onto the tracks.

“The person was safely removed from the tracks and refused medical assessment.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
