Police speed check catches over 80 drivers flouting 30mph limit on Beaulieu Road in Hythe
MORE than 80 motorists were caught flouting a 30mph limit when police carried out a speeding crackdown in Hythe.
Responding to public feedback on the driving offence, Waterside officers stationed a speed enforcement van in Beaulieu Road.
There it picked up a total of 84 motorists driving in excess of the 30mph limit.
Later repositioned in Fawley, the highest speed the van clocked was 73mph.
Posting on Facebook afterwards, PCSO Murray said: “These will be dealt with in a number of ways, ranging from driving awareness training, fixed penalty notices, and for the highest speeds, drivers will receive a court summons.”
Highlighting a community SpeedWatch scheme already in operation in Marchwood, PCSO Murray commented other locations would be considered.
