Motorcycle rider injured in crash near Lymington
A MOTORCYCLIST was hurt in a collision on a road in the New Forest.
The incident involving a grey Honda bike took place on the B3054 Main Road at Walhampton, near Lymington, close to Walhampton School, around 5pm on Tuesday.
Local firefighters were called out to help paramedics with lighting to illuminate the search for the rider who had been thrown into a field.
The medics, which included the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance critical care car and a hazardous area response team, assessed both the rider and passenger at the scene.
The rider, a man from Southampton, was taken by ambulance to the city’s university hospital, but a South Central Ambulance Service spokesperson said he did not appear to be seriously injured.
A spokesperson for Hampshire police told the A&T: “We can confirm that officers were called out to an incident at 5.03pm yesterday evening (19 January) following a single-vehicle collision on Main Road, Walhampton. A grey Honda motorcycle left the road close to Walhampton School.
"A man was located nearby having suffered a serious, but not life-threatening injury to his leg. He was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made."
