Motorist cut free by firefighters after car crashes off A35
A MOTORIST had to be cut free by firefighters after a car rolled off the A35 near Lyndhurst, causing rush-hour traffic chaos.
The Seat Ibiza landed on its roof off the main road as a result of the serious accident, which took place in Southampton Road around 6.15am today (Wednesday).
Fire crews from Lyndhurst and Redbridge spent just under an hour releasing the female casualty before she was handed over into the care of paramedics.
She was taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital. A Hampshire police spokesperson said the victim, who is in her 20s and from Poole, had suffered minor injuries.
Drivers faced severe disruption as officers closed the stretch of the A337 between Lyndhurst and Cadnam.
The route was reopened by 8.40am.
One commuter who was caught up in the traffic jam told the A&T there was a queue stretching over a mile towards Cadnam.
“The officer told me they closed the road partly because the fence was down and animals might get onto the road,” he said.
