Police warning to motorists amid rise in dangerous driving reports around Applemore Tesco and Sizer Way in Dibden
MOTORISTS were warned they face fines or having their vehicle seized as police responded to a rise in dangerous driving incidents around Dibden.
A Facebook post by the local neighbourhood team told how areas around the Applemore Tesco and Sizer Way were being plagued by reports of reckless and anti-social drivers.
Officers have patrolled Sizer Way and its surroundings while carrying out investigations into incidents including speeding.
The post said: “As [anti-social behavious] driving, speeding and other vehicle offences are becoming an increasing issue, we will start to look at options such as the deployment of speed camera vans and speed guns, issuing section 59 notices and seizing vehicles, along with issuing tickets.
“We always try and lead with engagement rather than enforcement. However, when people are clearly driving with no regard for the people around them, then naturally we will have to start escalating our response for the sake of the rest of the Waterside.”
People were urged to continue reporting such incidents to help officers identify where problems are so they can target patrols.
Those with information should contact Hampshire police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
