Mudeford cricketers swap runs for walks with 1,000-mile challenge
MUDEFORD cricketers are to walk more than 1,000 miles in March – and will give 50% of any donations they get to Macmillan cancer charity.
Seventeen players have so far signed on to take up the challenge, which will see them walk or run the equivalent distance of starting off in the village and going to every ground in the cricket county championship and back.
First-team bowler Ryan Attree explained: “We chose Macmillan Local as a few of our players have had family members helped by them so we thought it was a fantastic choice. We’ve also done little events such a goatee days during the season to raise money for Alzheimer’s.
“We are using the app ‘Strava’ to walk and run the distances, then myself and Alex James, whose idea it was, can keep track of the distance we’ve covered each day until we reach the target and potentially further.”
