New £2.5m business park approved for Christchurch
A NEW £2.5m trading hub is to be created by the Penton Motor Group in Christchurch on a disused site in Stony Lane.
Developers say it will create up to 30 new jobs and “breathe fresh life” into what was the former base of the Boyland Joinery company.
Four new units will be built on the site to form a new commercial development which will be known as Penton Business Park.
The park will offer a total of 20,300 square feet to be used as trade counters, light industrial storage, and possible gym use. There will be parking for 50 vehicles.
Leading national chains have already taken space with 12,000 square feet still available, said Penton Motor Group.
BCP Council has given the go-ahead to the development on which it is hoped building work will begin as soon as the coronavirus lockdown restrictions allow.
Penton managing director Robert Wilson said: “This new development demonstrates our confidence in the commercial property sector and the Christchurch area.
“With the possible creation of 30 jobs, it represents a significant boost for the local economy and regeneration of a disused brownfield site.
“We all look forward to seeing this development progress as soon as conditions allow.”
Christchurch firm REIDsteel has designed and manufactured the steel frames, decking, cladding, glazing and doors for the project.
Simon Boyd, managing director REIDsteel, said: “We work across the UK, Europe and the world so it is great to work on a project a little closer to home.
“We are delighted to support the Penton Motor Group to create this high-quality development which will bring significant jobs and economic benefits for the area.”
Penton Motor Group is a family owned business which has been established for 50 years standing trading in the new and used car market.
It has an annual turnover of £60m.
