Extra New Milton allotment plots made available by town council through subdivision

FIFTEEN new allotment plots have so far been created through sub-dividing to address a long waiting list in New Milton.

As reported in the A&T, at the start of September the town council was facing a list of 44 wanting one of its 130 plots at Becton Lane, Lower Ashley, Lymington Road, Middle Ashley and Upper Ashley.

Estates and facilities manager Mark Jeffries told a recent amenities committee meeting the first of the planned subdivisions had been carried out.

These have seen eight plots created at Middle Ashley, along with another seven at Upper Ashley.

The council has now been contacting those next on the waiting list to offer them the plots.

It was previously announced that a total of 25 new plots could be created through subdivision.

Mr Jeffries said the rest were set to be marked out by the end of October to be offered in November.
