Hampshire Premier Division: New Forest Hockey 8-0 Bournemouth III

NEW Forest Hockey ladies' first team dominated in their league game against Bournemouth III, running out 8-0 victors at home.

Forest started strong, winning a penalty corner early. A rebounded strike fell nicely for Lia Waine, who made sure to convert the first corner of the match. Forest kept up the momentum, following with a second goal shortly after.

A long ball by Rachel Lloyd saw Waine clear of Bournemouth defence and with skill, created space for a simple slip to Lock, whose first-time strike made the score 2-0.

Bournemouth pressed on, continuing to push towards goal and with several diving saves from goalkeeper Becky Snook and a deflection off the goal-line from Maz Brewis, Forest managed to keep Bournemouth at bay.

The first half finished 4-0 with two goals late in the half. A Bournemouth foot stopped a goal on the line which resulted in a converted penalty flick from Waine. The other from a reverse stick strike from Lock.

After the start of the second half, Forest had to deal with an early onslaught from Bournemouth. Lloyd made sure Forest kept a clean sheet with some last-ditch tackles, and Sarah Biddlecombe drove the ball out of danger from defence.

Forest capitalised on this and continued to bombard Bournemouth. Maz Brewis had two assists, firing the ball into the circle for a deflection from Gavin and shortly after this goal, firing a second into the circle for Lock to convert.

With the game stretched, Forest’s midfield had to work hard to keep the ball away from the defending area of the pitch. Ruby Noble and Beth Cammegh connected well to switch the play from side-to-side, allowing for quick attacks from Forest, resulting in Lynn Jones and Allan tying Bournemouth’s defence into knots.

At 6-0, Forest continued to push forward, and Octavia Allan crossed the ball to Lock, who struck the ball into the corner for her fourth.

A penalty corner followed in the last few minutes of the game which was finished off nicely with Lia Waine securing her third with a flick past the Bournemouth keeper.

New Forest: Octavia Allan, Sarah Biddlecombe, Maz Brewis, Beth Cammegh, Lauren Gavin, Lynn Jones, Rachel Lloyd, Jade Lock, Ruby Noble, Becky Snook, Lia Waine.
