New Forest marathon organisers step up new running event
THE New Forest marathon organisers, ORA Events, launched their new running event Rock 2 Rock Let’s Rock in Watergate Bay on the north Cornwall coast over the weekend.
The brand-new event reeled in hundreds of runners to enjoy a combination of sunset beach runs, 2K, 5K or both.
Rock 2 Rock also included a beach arena with New Milton-based We Are Robot among the acts.
Wanting to lead on the success of the New Forest Marathon, ORA Events directors Chris Farr and Andy Daish created Rock 2 Rock Let’s Rock which has a similar objective to their sell-out event held at New Park, Brockenhurst.
Chris said: “It’s a true privilege to be able to put on such an inspiring event on one of the country’s most dramatic beaches.
"Taking the blueprint from the New Forest Marathon, adding a Cornish twist and staging it in another stunning location has resulted in the creation of a very unique event.”
He added: “This is a very special combination of tides, a Saturday night and a glorious summers evening making a real night to remember.
"It’s imperative that we highlight the plastic issue on our beaches to ensure that these places of outstanding natural beauty are preserved for generations to come.”
They aim to inspire communities to be active in an iconic location while ensuring environmental concerns are promoted, helping spread the message and preserving these places for generations to come.
Rock 2 Rock spread the message of plastic waste on landmarks as they teamed up with Surfers Against Sewage, a Cornwall-based charity who have campaigned for over 30 years on environmental issues, as well as the award-winning Beach Guardian and plastic-free Newquay.
The New Forest marathon will take place on 8th September. For more information and entry details, visit www.newforestmarathon.co.uk.
