Firefighters from Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst, along with an animal rescue advisor, responded to the incident off the B3078 Roger Penny Way.

Farming machinery was used in an attempt to rescue the 17-year-old animal, but an on-scene vet decided to euthanise it to prevent further suffering.
