New Christchurch McDonald's granted permission to serve late-night refreshments
AN APPLICATION to allow a new McDonald’s in Christchurch to serve refreshments from 11pm to 5am has been granted by BCP Council.
Only one objection to the proposal for the site, at Christchurch Retail Park on Barrack Road, was received from nearby neighbours who were worried about noise, litter and anti-social behaviour.
But, as the A&T reported last week, the fast-food firm said it already had measures in place to tackle those problems, including playing classical music to drive away troublemakers.
Appearing before a BCP Council licensing sub-committee, McDonald’s barrister Leo Charalambides also said the company would be undertaking regular litter patrols
Publishing its decision, the sub-committee said it was “encouraged by the applicant’s desire to engage and work with the local community to minimise any noise nuisance and public nuisance".
It also said it was encouraged by the “applicant’s openness to engage with groups to co-operate with litter picking”.
