Chewton Glen applies to build three more luxury treehouses
THE Chewton Glen wants to build another three luxury tree houses which have proved a hit with a whole host of celebrity guests including TV star Holly Willoughby who celebrated her birthday in one.
The New Milton hotel has applied to build the glass-fronted wooden clad houses which come complete with a hot tub on the balcony in woodland in its grounds.
The treetop accommodation will have six guest suites and boast luxury interiors including log burning fires. Prices for a night’s stay at the existing tree houses start at £1,450.
Chewton Glen says the new houses will, like the previous ones it has built, be constructed to blend in to their surroundings saying: “The hotel recognises the importance of the sylvan nature of the site and view the trees and woodland within the grounds as a crucial asset to the hotel and guests.”
The timber-clad houses are built on stilts within woodland in the grounds of the hotel.
In its planning application Chewton Glen says the new builds will result in the loss of several trees but say they are of “poor condition” and small. All “significant” boundary trees will be retained, and a planting of new trees is part of the planning proposal.
The hotel says: “The size of these new trees and their future growth will significantly enhance the contribution of this site to local character and more than compensate for the loss of existing trees.”
BCP Council will make a decision on the application after consultation finishes on 26th November.
