A New Milton man appeared in court over shoplifting offences after police were forced to break down his door.

“With the assistance of colleagues from Lyndhurst, our large red key and some readjustment of the property's front door, the suspect eventually presented himself to police and was arrested,” the post said.

Robert Boyt (33), of Marryat Road, pleaded guilty to the offences when he appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 26th April.

He was fined £50 for each offence and told to pay compensation of £18.05.

The post continued: “This result is in addition to other court results that the two teams have worked hard to achieve recently.

“The team deal with a variety of investigations and offences, not just shopliftings and some investigations due to their very nature, can take a long time from being committed to ending up in court.

“Please be assured that the two teams are passionate and determined to make their policing areas as safe as possible, whether that be from sending persons to court, to carrying out patrols and engagement with the public.”
