New Forest District Council unveils improvements to Woodside Park in Pennington thanks to developers’ contributions

IMPROVEMENTS at a park near Lymington, including new footpaths and a dog activity area, have been unveiled.

The work at Woodside Park in Pennington was funded by New Forest District Council as part of a £1m programme to improve walking routes and green spaces across the district.

The Green Way scheme is funded through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which is collected from new residential developments, and aims to enhance existing recreational spaces across the district, reduce pressure on nearby protected sites and support local wildlife.

Footpaths and boardwalks have been created for a walking route, alongside a dog training and activity area, and community orchard.

The council’s cabinet member for planning and economy, Cllr Derek Tipp, said: “The completion of works to Woodside Park is a significant step in our ongoing efforts to balance recreational needs with environmental protection.

“This project not only provides valuable new facilities for our community, but it also plays an important role in preserving the natural beauty of the New Forest.

“By offering alternative recreational spaces, we can help reduce the pressure on our sensitive conservation areas, and I look forward to seeing residents and visitors alike enjoy these new amenities.”
