Buyers can soon apply for five new shared ownership homes from New Forest District Council on Moore Close in New Milton

APPLICATIONS open soon for five new homes in New Milton aimed at giving buyers a leg-up onto the property ladder.

The shared ownership properties, which are part of a New Forest District Council development of 10 houses and six flats on Moore Close, are nearing completion.

Designed and built to meet high energy efficiency standards, they include extra thermal insulation, triple glazing, photovoltaic roof panels, and heating provided by air source heat pump technology.

The carpeted homes each have a fitted kitchen with built in appliances, as well as a private garden.

There are two dedicated parking spaces for each property, with an electric vehicle charging point.

Shared ownership allows individuals and families to purchase an initial share of a home, typically between 25% and 75%, and pay rent on the remaining share.

Over time, they can buy additional shares – potentially up to 100% – making home ownership more accessible and financially manageable.

Cllr Steve Davies, NFDC portfolio holder for housing and homelessness, said: “We are thrilled to offer these new shared ownership homes, which provide an accessible path to homeownership.

“By supporting shared ownership, we are providing individuals and families with more opportunities to access affordable housing, whilst fostering stronger and more vibrant communities, and the addition of these high-quality, sustainable homes demonstrates our commitment to meeting the housing needs of our district.”

A £1,516,000 grant by Homes England to NFDC helped fund the entire development.

Shared ownership applications open at 9am on Wednesday 2nd October.

NFDC is hosting an information event at New Milton Town Hall on Ashley Road from 10.30am to 4pm on Wednesday 11th September. Booking is not required.
