New homes at Crossways in Lower Pennington Road, Pennington, would be aimed at “lower end of market” say Poole-based developers Harden Homes Ltd

AN application to replace a house in Pennington with four homes has been submitted by Poole-based developers Harnden Homes after a previous proposal for five properties on the site was refused.

The company wants to create the new four-bedroom homes at Crossways, Lower Pennington Lane, along with 12 car parking spaces.

A report by Darryl Howells Planning Consultancy on behalf of the developers stated that the “proposed development of this site is entirely compatible with the prevailing residential character of this area, close to the shops and facilities at the local centre and along the main transport route into Lymington.”

They also said the houses would “assist” in meeting the “identified need” for homes in the area and that they would be “targeted towards the lower end of the market to ensure a balanced and mixed community”.

The new development would “make a valuable contribution” to the area, the report added, and the site “clearly lends itself to redevelopment to make more efficient use of the land available and deliver new homes in a highly sustainable location for families who want to reside in the area”.

A report by an environmental officer recommended a noise impact assessment be carried out, as the location of the homes near to a petrol station and a “busy” road had the potential to impact future residents of the houses.
