COUNCILLORS have given the go-ahead to a sex shop in Ringwood.

The bid submitted to New Forest District Council was for a trial run of a store at what is currently the wholesale showroom of Simply Pleasure at Forest Gate business park in Spring Lane.

The Ringwood sex shop licence application was in the name of Symon Reeves, a director of the Poole-based company, which has already gained planning permission to use the unit for retail.

It will open 9am-5pm Monday-Friday and stock sex toys, “adult novelties” and 18-rated DVDs. The entrance would be signposted at the side of the building with a CCTV camera over the door.

A report to the council’s licensing sub-committee said the plan had received no objections from either residents, local members or the police.

After hearing the application at NFDC’s Appletree Court offices in Lyndhurst, councillors allowed a one-year licence for the Ringwood sex shop.
