Organisers hoping for busy final day at the New Forest Show

FINE weather has continued for the third and final day of the New Forest Show as crowds queued for tickets and families enjoyed a host of hands on activities.

Children have been rolling up their sleeves for a series of free kids' cookery workshops taking place throughout the day in the Bake and Cake Tent.

Introduced three years ago, the popular tent also runs an annual open cookery contest with classes for everything from cakes and pastries to savouries and kids classes.

Meanwhile, the family fun area was also set to continue with its packed programme of entertainment from local dance troops and performers.

Highlights are set to include comic magic shows from Crazy M and Joey, a hip-hop dance demo, entertainment from the Sandy Balls team and singing from the Love Soul Choir.

The Church Tent has been as popular as ever this year, offering a haven from the sunshine and serving complimentary teas and coffees and providing free face painting and craft activities for youngsters.

The activities continued in the popular Discovery Zone with a whole range of charities running workshops including Lepe Country Park, the New Forest Heritage Centre and Minstead Study Centre.

New Forest Show spokesperson Sophie Stannett said: “There is an absolutely amazing range of activities for families and children all around the show ground and we have been really trying to raise awareness of all the things that are going on.

“The show ground has been looking very busy this morning so we are really hoping that we will have another good day that will help us recover from the bad weather on Tuesday.”

Other Thursday highlights are set to include the grand parade at 3pm when show president Lord Montagu will present the president’s award for his favourite area of the event.
