Outdoor theatre and live music, Exbury Gardens

OPEN-air theatre and a series of live music garden concerts are set to draw bumper crowds to Exbury Gardens this summer.

The theatrical family fun will get under way with the Adventures of Dr Dolittle in the garden at 7pm on Friday 2nd August.

When Dr John Dolittle of Puddleby-on-the-Marsh is taught by his wise old parrot Polynesia how to talk to animals, news of his skills spreads far and wide.

Soon animals across the world send messages asking for his help. So he buys a leaky old ship and, together with his trusty pet-crew of Jip the dog, Chee-Chee the monkey, Dab-Dab the Duck and permanently hungry Gub-Gub the pig, sets forth on a mission to heal illness, spread compassion and gain a greater understanding of the animal kingdom.

The show is suitable for ages five and above with attendees asked to bring a picnic blanket or chair to sit on.

Open-air theatre in the garden will continue with Romeo and Juliet performed by Illyria Outdoor Theatre on Tuesday 27th August. Suitable for all ages, the gardens open at 6pm and performance starts at 7pm.
