Police arrest pair after man injured in assault at Fawcett's Field in New Milton




TWO people were arrested after an attack near New Milton playing fields left a man badly hurt.

Called out to reports of an altercation at an address at Fawcett’s Field, off the A337 Christchurch Road, shortly after 8.30pm last Friday, police found the 40-year-old victim with serious injuries.

Having identified two suspects, officers attended an address in Marryat Road where they found the pair.

They arrested a 30-year-old man, of no fixed abode, on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

A 31-year-old man, also of no fixed abode, was detained on suspicion of affray and possessing a class B drug.

Southampton CID took over the investigation before both suspects were released on conditional bail until 17th April.

A Facebook post by local officers afterwards said: “The investigations into the events of that night are still ongoing, and we will update you with a result when one is reached.”
