Hunt for witness after man and woman hit by van following fight outside Roebuck Inn in Marchwood
A MAN and a woman were struck by a van following a fight outside a Marchwood pub.
The incident, which left the man needing hospital treatment, took place on Friday 25th February, but police have only just released details as they appealed for help to trace a witness who may have crucial information.
Officers responded to a call-out at around 9.45pm to the Roebuck Inn in Main Road, where a man was said to have become involved in an altercation with a second man outside and assaulted him.
The man then got into a van parked in the road and drove towards the victim and a woman, who were both in their 50s, hitting them.
Having suffered face and knee injuries, the male victim was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.
The woman suffered minor injuries.
Officers arrested a 61-year-old man from Cosham on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, criminal damage and assault by beating.
He was later released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Posting on Facebook, local police said: “We appreciate that this incident was some weeks ago now, however we believe there is still one key witness that may have helpful information who we would like to speak to.
“From speaking to people who were in the area at the time, we believe there was a woman outside of the Roebuck Inn at the time who witnessed the incident taking place.
