Passer-by scared off sex attacker during assault on teenage girl
A TEENAGE girl suffered a sex assault in Ringwood before a member of the public intervened and scared off the attacker.
The 17-year-old victim was walking along the footpath between Jubilee Close and Winston Way between 9pm and 9.30pm last Thursday.
She was approached by a man she did not know who sexually assaulted her over her clothing.
But a member of the public came forward and pushed the male off her and the attacker fled the scene. The victim also ran off.
Hampshire Police’s DC James Pieri said: “An investigation is under way and we’re following a number of lines of enquiry.
“We would particularly like to hear from the person who intervened during this incident.
"They may hold vital information about what happened, and we would like to speak to them as a matter of urgency. If this is you, please call us."
He added: “Officers will continue to make enquiries in the area – please speak to them if you have any concerns or information.”
