Pedestrian dies in collision with petrol tanker on A338 between Avon Causeway and Ashley Heath
A PEDESTRIAN was killed in a collision involving a petrol tanker on the A338 Bournemouth Spur Road, between the Avon Causeway and Ashley Heath.
The incident took place on the northbound carriageway around 6.20am yesterday (Sunday), and police are urging witnesses and those with dashcam footage to come forward to help their investigations.
Paramedics and officers responded, but the pedestrian, a man in his 30s from Bournemouth, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
The driver of the white lorry was uninjured.
The road was closed for several hours while crews dealt with the incident and collision investigators examined the scene.
Sgt Lee Savage, of Dorset’s traffic unit, said: “My thoughts go out to the family and friends at this difficult time.
“We are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.
“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw a white Vauxhall Insignia parked in a layby on this stretch of road or a person in or around the vehicle."
