Pensioner killed in collision with van in Airfield Way, Christchurch, named as 79-year-old Jill Crisp
A PENSIONER killed in a collision with a van in Christchurch earlier this month has been named as 79-year-old Jill Crisp.
The retired personal assistant was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash involving a Mercedes Sprinter, which took place as she walked in Airfield Way around 11.40am on 13th January.
An inquest, which opened at Bournemouth Coroners’ Court on Monday, heard a post-mortem examination found Mrs Crisp, of Wellington Avenue, died after suffering trunk and leg injuries.
The hearing was adjourned, but a date is yet to be set for a full inquest.
As reported in the A&T, police urged witnesses or those with dashcam footage to come forward as they launched an investigation into the collision.
The van driver, a man in his 50s, was uninjured.
Sgt Sarah Jones, of the Dorset force's traffic unit, said at the time: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who very sadly died in this collision.
“We are carrying out enquiries to establish exactly what happened and would urge any witnesses to please come forward.
“I would also ask motorists or businesses in the vicinity to please check their dashcams or CCTV systems for any footage that may be relevant to my enquiries.”
