A PENNINGTON pensioner who admitted possessing hundreds of indecent images of children has been handed a suspended prison sentence.
Allan Wilkins (72), of Mead Road, was found to have 140 category A images – the most severe – along with 102 category B and 89 category C.
He had initially denied three counts of making indecent photographs of children, but pleaded guilty on the day of his trial.
Appearing at Winchester Crown Court, the defendant was sentenced to 14 months in prison, suspended for two years.
He was banned from working with children for 10 years and also given a sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his internet use, for the same length of time.
Wilkins was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.
