A MAJOR search was launched after an elderly resident went missing from a Barton care home last night (Wednesday).

The alarm was raised around 9.15pm, with reports the 80-year-old man had disappeared from Engleburn in Milford Road.

Police scoured the surrounding area, helped by a National Police Air Service helicopter which hovered over Barton, New Milton and Ashley.

The pensioner was later found, but no details about when and where were available.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an 80-year-old male was reported missing from Engleburn Residential Care Home.

“Following an extensive search, they were located.”
