PHOTOS: Most Wanted campaign reveals top Hampshire suspects
THESE are the faces of some the most wanted suspects being hunted by Hampshire Police.
The mug shots have been released by the Crimestoppers charity to mark the launch of its Most Wanted campaign for 2019. There was early success when on the eve of the initiative's launch two of 20 were arrested.
Their faces were due to be displayed on a digital billboard carried by a van at four main locations across the county today (Thursday) and tomorrow as part of a bid to find them.
They are being sought for a variety of crimes including serious assault, robbery, human rights offences and dangerous driving.
Emily van der Lely, Crimestoppers Hampshire regional manager, said: “I am proud that our charity gives people the power to speak up and stop crime completely anonymously. Hampshire is a comparatively safe county.
"There are, however, people at large who are wanted by law enforcement.
“Our Most Wanted campaign can only be successful if the public are willing to help us protect those they love and the communities they care about."
She added: “I encourage everyone to check our website and let us know immediately if you have any information on any of the individuals. You are the one who can make a difference.”
Last year’s Hampshire Most Wanted resulted in 10 out of 18 people being found. Within a few hours of the campaign launch, a member of the public who saw the ad-van passed on information about one of the individuals that led to them being found and arrested later the same day.
Crimestoppers’ national Most Wanted website received more than 20,000 views last month alone and since its launch in 2005 the campaign has resulted in more than 4,300 arrests.
Mrs van der Lely said: “As a charity, we ensure you won’t have to give your personal details, just tell us what you know and we’ll pass it on for you.”
