LYMINGTON’S Italia Festival celebrating all things Italian saw 50 Ferraris cruise up the packed-out High Street at the town’s annual Italia Festival.
Receiving applause and cheers from the crowds lining the route on Sunday, the Ferraris departed from the Lymington Yacht Haven before travelling in convoy through Pennington Cross, Stanford Hill, Southampton Road, Avenue Road and Gosport Street, arriving finally in the High Street.
Once the cars had passed through, the thousands of visitors and petrol heads alike flocked to view the parked-up vehicles.
A spokesperson for Lymington and Pennington Town Council, which organised the event, said: "Yet again, the weather was kind and the Italian-themed market was buzzing with thousands of visitors enjoying the 50 Ferraris on display.
"Lymington and Pennington Town Council would like to thank everyone who supported and attended the event."
The market hosted a range of stalls offering traditional Italian street food including pizzas and paninis, as well as Italian clothes, handbags, model cars and artisan products.
A raffle of 14 prizes, which included a ride in a Ferrari and/or Aston Martin, raised approximately £3,000 for the mayor’s charity, The Honeypot Children’s Charity.
The money raised, £1,000 of which was match-funded by Barclays Bank, plus Honeypot’s own street collection of £618, is enough to fund a full year of support for seven of the 33 young carers that live in the Lymington area.
