Charity tractor run for defibrillator at the Compass Inn in Winsor
FORTY tractors took part in a charity run through the New Forest so that a lifesaving defibrillator can be installed at the Compass Inn in Winsor.
The pub hosted a End of Harvest Hoedown, in aid of the British Heart Foundation equipment, which started with a cuppa and bacon sandwich for the drivers before they set off on a route that took them through Lyndhurst.
The tractors passed through Holbury and Ashurst before making their way back to the Compass Inn where participants were rewarded with a hog roast and live music.
Landlord Ashley Goulding, who now runs the pub with wife Vicky, said: “It was a fantastic event which was so successful we are going to make it an annual one. Around 60 people turned up in the morning to see the tractors off.
“They really were a sight, and it was amazing so many took part. I really can’t thank everyone enough who made it such a fantastic and memorable day and evening.”
“We keep getting asked when the next one is, and it was so good that we are now going to hold it every year. Everyone had so much fun.
“It was a great event which raised enough money for the British Heart Foundation to install the defibrillator at the pub which is such an important thing for the village to have.”
