Plan for 96 new homes on farmland near Fordingbridge

NEW Forest developer Pennyfarthing Homes has confirmed it is working on a scheme to build 96 new properties in Fordingbridge.

The development, at a site called Tinkers Cross, was identified as a strategic development site in New Forest District Council’s Local Plan which sets out housebuilding policies.

Ben Arnold, land and planning director at Pennyfarthing, said: “We are initially looking to bring forward a sympathetic development of around 96 homes that makes a positive contribution to Fordingbridge on land that has already been identified for housing in the Local Plan.

“We recognise that there are few sites available across the New Forest to meet the district’s housing needs, and this is one of them.

“We have a proven track record of delivering high-quality schemes in Fordingbridge, such as Augustus Park. We are now liaising with Fordingbridge Town Council and the council’s planning officers on an application for Tinkers Cross Farm, which we hope to submit soon.”

Separate proposals by Infinite Homes for 240 new homes near Fordingbridge were due to have been discussed during an online meeting of the town council on Wednesday evening.

The application submitted to NFDC seeks outline planning permission for the development on land to the north of Station Road.

The site between Fordingbridge and Ashford includes a new access from Station Road, 10.7 hectares of open space and off-street car parking.

So far NFDC has received more than 100 objections to the plans, raising concern about increased traffic and the impact on local services.
